Our Commitment: Nuggzy does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your privacy matters to us.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Nuggzy ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our service. Nuggzy is available on the web at nuggzy.com, and as a mobile application on the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). By using Nuggzy on any platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us:

  • Account Information: Email address, username, handle, and password
  • Profile Information: Profile picture, display name, and bio (optional)
  • Payment Information: Processed securely through Stripe (web), Apple App Store (iOS), or Google Play Store (Android). We do not store your credit card details.
  • Content: Video segments ("Nuggets") you create, including titles, timestamps, and notes

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use Nuggzy, we automatically collect:

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the service
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers
  • Analytics Data: How you interact with Nuggets (views, likes, shares)
  • Log Data: Access times, error logs, and technical diagnostics

2.3 Device Permissions (Mobile App)

When using the Nuggzy mobile app on iOS or Android, we may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera: Used solely for capturing and uploading your profile picture. We do not access your camera for any other purpose. Camera access is optional and only activated when you choose to take a new profile photo.
  • Photo Library: Used to select existing photos from your device for your profile picture. We do not access or upload any photos without your explicit action.
  • Internet Access: Required for the app to function and communicate with our servers.
  • Push Notifications: Optional. Used to send you updates about your account, new features, or activity on your content.

You can manage these permissions at any time through your device settings. Denying camera or photo library access will not affect your ability to use other features of the app.

2.4 Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember your preferences
  • Analyze site usage and improve our service
  • Track your interactions with Nuggets (likes, favorites)

You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may limit functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Service: Create your account, process payments, and enable features
  • Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features

We do NOT:

We use the following third-party services that may collect data:

4.1 Payment Processing

Stripe (Web): We use Stripe to process web payments. Stripe collects and processes your payment information according to their Privacy Policy.

Apple App Store (iOS): In-app purchases on iOS are processed by Apple. Your payment information is handled according to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store your payment details for App Store purchases.

Google Play Store (Android): In-app purchases on Android are processed by Google. Your payment information is handled according to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store your payment details for Play Store purchases.

4.2 YouTube API

Nuggzy uses the YouTube API to display video content. Your interactions with YouTube videos are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

4.3 Google Gemini AI

We use Google's Gemini AI for our AI Nugget Generator feature. Video transcripts are sent to Google for processing. This data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

4.4 SearchAPI.io

We use SearchAPI.io to retrieve YouTube video transcripts. This service processes video IDs according to their privacy policy.

4.5 App Store Platforms

When you download Nuggzy from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, those platforms may collect information about you in accordance with their respective privacy policies. Please review:

5.1 Where We Store Data

Your data is stored on secure servers located in the United States. Your Nuggets are stored in a file-based system with appropriate access controls.

5.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encrypted passwords using secure hashing
  • HTTPS encryption for data transmission
  • Secure authentication and session management
  • Regular security updates and monitoring
  • Access controls and permission systems

5.3 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal information, except where required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

6.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your account information at any time through your profile settings.

6.2 Delete Your Data

You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us at admin@nuggzy.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

6.3 Export Your Data

You can request a copy of your data in a portable format by contacting us.

6.4 Opt-Out of Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.

6.5 Manage Device Permissions

You can revoke camera, photo library, or notification permissions at any time through your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings > Nuggzy > toggle permissions
  • Android: Settings > Apps > Nuggzy > Permissions

6.6 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

  • Right to know what personal data we collect
  • Right to delete your personal data
  • Right to opt-out of sale (we don't sell your data)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

6.7 European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under GDPR:

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")

7. Public Content

Please note that:

  • Nuggets marked as "public" are visible to all users
  • Your profile information may be visible to other users if your profile is public
  • Public Nuggets may be indexed by search engines
  • You can change your privacy settings at any time

8. Children's Privacy

Nuggzy is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at admin@nuggzy.com and we will promptly delete such information.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and in the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • Sending you an email or push notification for material changes

Your continued use of Nuggzy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law, typically within 72 hours of discovering the breach.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers have "Do Not Track" features. Currently, there is no industry standard for responding to Do Not Track signals. Nuggzy does not respond to Do Not Track signals at this time.
